Everyone thinks they want freedom... the chance to choose whatever they want. But choices come with consequences. At the beginning of this first Monday of Easter, I'm grateful that we have an entire season to think about the Resurrection. The Church, in her wisdom, knows that we need more than a single day to wrap our minds around the significance of the empty tomb... as I continue to recover from the whirlwind of happy chaos that was yesterday, I'm excited to know that Easter is not over, but has only just begun.

I am the literary equivalent of a Big Mac and fries.

The trouble was, September didn't know what sort of story she was in. Was it a merry one or a serious one? How ought she to act? ... Of course, we would like to tell her which. But no one may know the shape of the tale in which they move. And, perhaps, we do not truly know what sort of beast it is, either. Stories have a way of changing faces.

In stories when someone appears in a poof of green clouds and asks a girl to go away on an adventure, it's because she's special...I don't know that I'm any of those things... The Lord Jesus who rules my life is not a sentimental, self-pitying weakling. he was a Jew, a carpenter, and strong. He took into his own heart, for our sakes, that pain which brings "wisdom through the awful grace of God."

Books to the ceiling, books to the sky, my pile of books is a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I’ll have a long beard by the time I read them.
