There is almost certainly an evolutionary drive toward increasing complexity in the face of entropy. That’s practically a definition of life. Technology is so powerful and attractive to us because it holds the promise of greater complexity and greater connectedness. Atoms to molecules to cells to organelles to organisms. What’s next? No one knows for sure, but it sure ain’t Facebook.

There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance. It's a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I'd prefer to have our software in 60% or 70% or 80% of them, than I would to have 2% or 3%, which is what Apple might get.

You cannot install a social networking tool and assume that a network will grow around it. You must either have another purpose, or an existing network of people to plug into it. Either way, it’s also going to take a lot of work: you need to lead by example, and participate heavily every day.

The author is changing. The author is expected now to be engaged with social media, to find their audience online right away. But there are lots of fantastic writers who don't want to play the social media game, and I think that publishers need to be there to help them.

Our app has been a great way of reaching people in rural places where our physical products have trouble reaching. It's scratching the surface of what's possible. Our dear friend Russell Quinn who worked hard on that app and I think he will continue to do better and better things.
