Standing on the bare ground- my head bathed by the blithe air and uplifted into infinite space- all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God.
You'd be surprised how hard it can often be to translate an action into an idea.

They're evildoers. Yesterday it's a tree, today it's a salmon, tomorrow it's, "Let's not dig up Alaska for oil because it's too pretty." Let me tell you something - I came out here to enjoy nature. Don't talk to me about the environment.

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing in the fields has power to move you, if the simplest things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive...

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
You have thousands of people sitting in the streets with nowhere to go. There are people running, crying, screaming... people are trying to dig victims out with flashlights. I think hundreds of casualties would be a serious understatement.
Human judges can show mercy. But against the laws of nature, there is no appeal.

I'll tell you how the sun rose—
A ribbon at a time.
Our summer made her light escape
Into the beautiful.
November always seemed to be the Norway of the year.
The dandelion's pallid tube
Astonishes the grass,
And winter instantly becomes
An infinite alas.
